Beta Engineering is proud to partner with EDP Renewables on its Crooked Lake Solar Park, a 175MW utility-scale solar facility located in the northeast corner of Mississippi County, AR. Beta’s service offering Agile by Beta® is engineering and constructing the 161kV/34.5kV substation that will connect the solar facility to the electrical grid, powering 30,000 Arkansas homes and saving more than 222 million gallons of water a year.
The Agile by Beta® project approach shifts construction of the substation from the field to the factory. This helps fast-track the project, provides schedule certainty, and reduces safety risks in the field. Once the substation is constructed inside a weather-controlled environment, it will be shipped in large sections to the project site, where it will be lifted and assembled in a matter of days.
In October, EDP Renewables hosted a Community Outreach Event for its Crooked Lake Solar Park in Blytheville, AR—just three and a half miles away from where the solar park will be located. Beta Engineering participated in the event along with other project vendors and contractors, and together we connected with community members, elected leaders, and landowners to answer questions and explain project plans.
Beta Engineering is a firm believer that transitioning to a clean energy future takes all of us and begins with building relationships. To date, Beta has interconnected more than 4,000 MW in renewable energy projects to the U.S. power grid.
