Beta Engineering and EDP Renewables North America (EDPR NA) earned international recognition from The Academy of Interactive & Visual Arts (AIVA) in the 2023 Davey Awards program on October 24. The Davey Awards honor marketing and communications content from the best in-house brand teams, boutique creative agencies, and independent creators.
This year, the Davey’s received more than 2,000 entries. The Academy honored both Beta Engineering and EDPR NA for their collaboration and execution of community relations and media efforts supporting EDPR NA’s Crooked Lake Solar Park in Blytheville, AR, with a silver Davey Award in the Environmental & Sustainability Non-Broadcast category.
“The talent displayed by the entrants into our 19th season has proven to be massive,” says AIVA Managing Director, Lauren Angeloni. “I’ve come to expect ingenuity and innovation from our small shops and independent creators, but this year is particularly stunning. Our jurors gave so much time and care in their evaluation of each entry.”
The award-winning video co-produced by Beta and EDPR NA showcases how renewable energy can stimulate economic growth in communities and the need for clear and frequent communication around renewable projects so that we can achieve a clean energy future together.
“Despite the U.S. having an aging infrastructure, the challenge comes with many market opportunities. Now more than ever, the various sectors of the energy industry need to come together to present a unified approach to the energy transition,” explains Tom Weirich, Marketing & Stakeholder Relations Lead for EDPR NA. “Education about the benefits of renewable energy helps galvanize project communities so that they too can feel ownership of their clean energy future.”
This was Beta and EDPR NA’s first joint marketing and public relations project. Since, the teams have collaborated on another community outreach event for a solar energy project in Mississippi, as well as a clean energy podcast featured at RE+.
“The team at EDPR NA is passionate about creating local community impact. It’s just one way they demonstrate their commitment to the environment,” says Lindsey Launius, Director of Market Strategy for Beta. “Our clients define and own their success, and at Beta, it’s our mission to help our clients achieve that success. We have skilled and talented teammates ready to act as an extension of our clients’ teams - even if it’s going beyond the engineering, procurement, and construction of a substation and its connection to the electrical grid.”
The Davey Awards is sanctioned and judged by the AIVA, an invitation-only body consisting of top-tier professionals from acclaimed brand and media, interactive, advertising, and marketing firms including Spotify, Big Spaceship, Nissan, Disney, Microsoft, GE Digital, JP Morgan, PGA Tour, Wired, and many others.
