NATCHITOCHES – Last week, Northwestern State University held its fifth annual Engineering Technology Symposium as part of National Manufacturing Month. Members of the Beta Engineering and Crest Industries teams joined NSU faculty and students in presenting to around 70 local high school students about STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) topics.
Topics ranged from career opportunities in STEM to the skillsets necessary for success in STEM jobs. Keynote speaker Dr. Moftah Ali, assistant professor in NSU’s Department of Engineering Technology, discussed his doctoral thesis, NSU’s degree program offerings, and the growing demand for jobs in the fields of engineering and technology.
In addition to participating in this symposium, Beta has been supporting STEM opportunities for high school and college students in many other ways this year, whether raising money for engineering scholarships or helping one local high school expand their Autodesk computer lab.
