PINEVILLE, La. – Charlotte Tubbs, Beta’s Account-Based Marketing Manager, has joined the Sustainable Supply Chain Alliance (SSCA) Supplier Advisory Board as the Materials Supplier Representative through 2028. She will represent Beta Engineering and Crest Industries on the board, joining quarterly board meetings and attending the SSCA annual meeting and conference.
“I believe meaningful progress in sustainability happens when utilities and suppliers work together,” Tubbs shared. “After attending the 2025 SSCA Conference in Dallas, I saw firsthand the value of bringing diverse perspectives to the table.”
As a board member, she said she wants to help facilitate more opportunities for candid and productive conversations between suppliers and utilities.
“Crest Industries has embedded sustainable practices in our daily operations for decades,” said Sarah LaBorde, Communications & Sustainability Manager for Crest Industries. “We joined the SSCA’s network of utilities and suppliers in 2023 to connect with our peers, build collaboration in the industry, and help set the standards for sustainability within electric power delivery. Today, we’re proud to continue growing this partnership through the Supplier Affiliate Member Advisory Board. We’re excited to see Charlotte represent the Crest Family of Companies and other suppliers within the SSCA while shaping the future of the organization and our industry.”
Beta Engineering provides engineering, procurement, and construction services for high-voltage substation projects that help utilities strengthen and modernize the electric grid. Beta has interconnected more than 6,000 megawatts of clean energy to the grid across the U.S., including collector substations and utility switchyards for solar, wind, and battery-energy storage (BESS) projects. Crest Industries companies DIS-TRAN Steel, DIS-TRAN Packaged Substations, and Mid-State Supply also provide materials to the utility industry, including transmission structures, substation steel, factory-built substations, and electrical products.
Tubbs has been with Beta Engineering for 10 years and brings extensive EPC supplier and sustainability experience to her new role on the SSCA board, including eight years with the energy-efficient building magazine High Performing Buildings. As Account-Based Marketing Manager at Beta, Tubbs regularly communicates Beta and Crest’s sustainability practices to organizations such as the SSCA and responds to requests such as The Sustainability Project (TSP) annual questionnaire. In 2025, Tubbs helped develop Beta's Sustainability Strategy overview, highlighting how Beta supports utilities in achieving their sustainability goals.
“Through that work, I gained a deeper appreciation for how sustainability extends beyond environmental stewardship to include responsible project execution, stakeholder engagement, and community trust and buy-in,” Tubbs said.
Each project that Beta performs is unique and customized to its clients’ specifications. Like many suppliers and contractors, Beta constantly explores ways to deliver the best value to its customers. From utilities to renewable energy developers to data centers, building power grid projects sustainably has become an important part of how each organization operates that matters deeply to the communities where they build.
Tubbs explained, “I bring a perspective that recognizes the tension that often exists for suppliers that see the importance of sustainability but must also be competitive in their product and service offerings.” She said she sees her role as a valuable part of the supplier sustainability conversation, connecting Beta’s perspective and practices with the broader community of suppliers and utilities.
